Lesson Information
At our Davis, California Riding Lessons we teach you to master the basics for jumping, dressage and western horsemanship and trails – Weekly riding lessons are great way for riders to progress towards more advanced levels of horseback riding. Lessons are also great for children and adults who just want to improve their skills and ride for pleasure. We offer both semi-private (3-4 students) and private lessons. We also have classroom lessons to teach important skills like safe falling, terminology, biomechanics of a good seat, and much more.

Basic Precepts – We offer lesson horses with extensive training for all levels of riders.
- Asking questions! Questions and inquisitiveness are strongly encouraged.
- Reaching goals and developing confidence.
- Physical Fitness. We help riders develop balance, core strength, and flexibility.
- Lessons are personalized to the rider’s ability and confidence level with instructors with many years of experience.
Schedule Information
All lessons must be scheduled, canceled, or adjusted at least 36 hours ahead of time or we must charge. In bad weather we hold off the horse lessons or classroom lessons that are designed to help improve your horsemanship. We have lessons in safe falling, how to mount correctly and safely, leg wrapping for shows and injury, first aide, how bits work and what are other options, how to fit your saddle correctly, and much more. Your safety is important to us. A large percentage of accidents occur when riders are first getting on the horse. Classroom lessons with our specialized apparatus allow us to teach you techniques designed to help you avoid mistakes.

Your Horse or Ours?
Lessons are offered on either your own horse, or on a Pine Trails Ranch horse. California Horseback Riding lessons are taught by Michelle Haseltine or an authorized instructor. All lessons must be scheduled, canceled, or changed at least 36 hours ahead to avoid charges. If notice is not given, students must pay for the lesson. Sorry- we do not rent horses. You may ride our quality horses in a lesson, but they don’t go out with riders not training in our system.
*NOTE: Semi-private lessons take about 2 hours to brush, saddle, ride, unsaddle & put away the horses, private lessons only take about an hour and a half to saddle up, ride, and put away the horse.
Little Rider Lessons
We are offering a new option for very young children. We are offering a one hour private lesson for young children just getting started. The lesson runs one hour, including tacking, grooming and riding and is designed to meet the shorter attention span of younger children. The program is designed to suit the needs of children ages 3 to 6.
Costs
The following Prices apply to those who need to use a Pine Trails Ranch lesson horse for their lesson:
- Group lesson – Three to Four students – $65.00 per person 2 hour lesson
- Private – Single Student – $85.00 per person Hour and a half lesson
- Little Riders Lesson (Ages 3-5) $68.00 per person 1 hour lesson total- shorter lesson for shorter attention spans.
For clients who own or lease a horse the lesson fee goes down.
- group is $45 for one hour
- Private lesson is $65 for one hour
- Those who own or lease can tack up their own so the lesson is just an hour of riding.

Each card is good for five lessons at discounted prices.
The following Prices apply to those using a Pine Trails Ranch lesson horse for their lesson:
- Students will tack up and care for their horse with the help of an instructor before and after the lesson.
- Semi Private Lesson Card – $285.00
- Private Lesson Card – $390.00
The following prices apply to those taking lessons on their own horse or a leased horse:
- Students are expected to tack up and care for their horse on their own before and after the lesson.
- Each lesson is one hour long.
- Semi Private Lesson Card – $200.00
- Private Lesson Card – $285.00
